(Columbus, Ohio, July 15, 2024)

Today, RISE (Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment)® kicked off the Industry Issues Breakfast at Cultivate’24, AmericanHort’s annual event in Columbus, Ohio.

Convening over 60 industry professionals, RISE President Megan Provost set the tone, urging all present to actively engage in advocacy at every level of government.

“Advocacy is the foundation of our mission at RISE. By working hand-in-hand with state and federal partners, we’re driving crucial legislative changes that benefit our industry,” Provost declared. “Your voices, as experts in the green industry, are essential in educating policymakers and decision makers about the benefits and rigorous regulation of pesticides.”

Two prominent horticulture leaders and AmericanHort members joined Provost to share their frontline experiences as industry advocates, echoing RISE’s call to action.

Jennifer Moss, CEO of Moss Greenhouses, detailed her journey as the fourth-generation owner of a leading greenhouse in Idaho. “In this business, change is constant, and imperative for growth. I’ve learned that getting involved and sharing my story and the stories of those in our industry is how we continue to thrive,” Moss said.

Jordan Rolfe, COO and General Counsel for Olson’s Greenhouse Gardens in Utah, shared insights from his extensive advocacy work emphasizing, “Advocacy drives progress for the broader green industry. Engaging with our elected representatives is key to safeguarding our industry’s future—and the industries that rely on our future.”

Provost encouraged attendees to join the RISE Grassroots Network for resources, training, and updates on critical issues impacting the specialty pesticide and fertilizer industry and green industry. She closed by stating, “Together, we can make a difference. Join us and be a part of the voice of our industry.”
